The abstract section of the dissertation is the part that helps in making a first impression because it is the document that the reader reads first. It should represent the entire dissertation in spaces where there is no space for the entire dissertation. Everything that the dissertation postulates should be displayed in the single paragraph of an abstract. The structure of the dissertation should mirror the entire dissertation and it should represent the major elements. If a dissertation has five chapters then there should be one or two sentences allocated to each chapter. Usually this is the chapter that is written last because it also needs to mention the position that is postulated by the dissertation in the conclusion.
